Travel & Accommodations

Please DO NOT book any flights prior to receiving the approval email from the registration team and reading the transportation details below. Direct any questions you may have after reading this page to:

Important Notes

  • The North America College Training (NACT) will be held at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), which is ~140 miles (~3 hours) from Chicago airports.

  • Transportation is NOT included in your registration fee. You will need to arrange for your own transportation to and from all airports, including in Champaign or Chicago.

  • It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you travel (either ground or air) in GROUPS.

  • Check-in on July 16 at UIUC is between 12-6PM (12:00-18:00 CDT). As much as possible, please plan to arrive during this time.

  • Training will conclude on Saturday, July 22 after lunch. If you are flying out of Chicago airports, plan to depart after 5pm.

By Private Car or Van

If you choose to drive (groups recommended), please make your own arrangements.

By Plane

  • The nearest airport to UIUC is the University of Illinois Willard Airport (CMI). You can use Uber or Lyft from CMI to UIUC (~15 min ride).

  • The two nearest major airports are in Chicago: O'Hare (ORD) and Midway (MDW). It takes ~3 hours on ground transportation from ORD or MDW to UIUC (see below for ground transportation from the airports). Give yourself an hour from your flight arrival to your ground transportation boarding time to collect luggage, find shuttle center, and/or purchase food.

  • It is recommended that you rent a vehicle during the week to drive to/from dorms, cafeterias, and meeting places due to the hot weather.

Getting from Chicago airports (ORD/MDW) to UIUC

  • Peoria Charter Bus to/from ORD or MDW (~$35). Plan to get off at the Armory stop at UIUC when booking your trip from the airport to the campus. It’s about a 10 minute walk from Armory bus stop to the NACT check-in.

  • Travel time between ORD/MDW to UIUC (Armory stop) is about 3 hours.

Travelers from the USA and Canada

  • No provision for hospitality is included in your registration fee outside the training dates (July 16-22).

  • The churches in Champaign and the Chicago Metro Area will not be able to provide hospitality before or after the NACT for trainees who are from the USA or Canada. This option is reserved for trainees from other countries. Please respect this arrangement as you make your travel plans.

Travelers from outside USA and Canada

The saints in the Chicago Metro Area are offering hospitality for those traveling from outside the USA and Canada. Please make your travel arrangements without extensions and arrive and depart at reasonable times. Come with a spirit to blend!

Pre-training: hospitality is available for a maximum of three nights (July 13, 14, and 15)

Post-training: hospitality is available for a maximum of three nights (July 22, 23, and 24)

To request hospitality please email

Note: Please remember that airport pickup WILL NOT be arranged to bring you to your hospitality. You will need to make your own arrangements to arrive at hospitality. Please consider Uber/Lyft or taking the bus/train. For information about public transportation in Chicago, please visit Please email for additional questions.
